Plain-language commitment. We aim to collect only what we need, use it for clear purposes, protect it appropriately, and give you meaningful control. Where consent is required, we ask for it separately; simply visiting the site does not replace a legally required consent.
Scope and introduction
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information processed through www.sunubiz.com and other SunuBiz websites, business-directory features, mobile or web applications, forms, newsletters, and services that link to this policy (together, the “Services”).
Some SunuBiz companies, products, or services may provide an additional privacy notice. If an additional notice conflicts with this policy for a particular service, the more specific notice will govern that service.
This policy does not apply to independent third-party websites or services that SunuBiz does not control.
Who we are and who controls your data
SunuBiz Group (“SunuBiz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a group of businesses connecting operations in Africa, the United States, and the Middle East. Unless a service-specific notice identifies another entity, SunuBiz Group is responsible for the personal information collected through this site.

3.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the Services, we or our providers may collect:
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;

- pages viewed, links used, referring page, timestamps, session duration, and interaction events;
- cookie identifiers, session identifiers, and local-storage preferences; and

3.3 Information from third parties
We may receive information from authentication providers you choose to use, payment providers, analytics providers, public business sources, business owners or authorised representatives, and SunuBiz companies. A third-party sign-in provider shares only the information covered by the permissions you approve.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal data unless it is necessary for a specific service, permitted by law, and accompanied by appropriate notice and safeguards. Please do not include sensitive information in free-text forms unless we specifically request it.
How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- provide, operate, personalise, maintain, and improve the Services;
- create and administer accounts and authenticate users;
- publish, verify, update, and manage business listings;
- respond to enquiries, requests, and support matters;
- send service messages, account notices, and listing updates;
- send newsletters or marketing messages where you have opted in or where otherwise permitted by law;
- measure traffic, performance, and use of our Services;
- protect users, investigate misuse, prevent fraud, and secure our systems;
- administer paid services and maintain financial records;
- enforce our terms, resolve disputes, and establish or defend legal claims; and
- comply with law, regulation, court orders, and valid government requests.
We do not use personal information for materially different purposes without providing additional notice and, where required, obtaining consent.
Legal grounds for processing
The legal ground depends on the information, service, and applicable law. We generally rely on one or more of the following:
| Ground | Typical uses |
|---|---|
| Consent | Optional analytics or advertising cookies, marketing messages, and other processing where consent is required |
| Contract or steps at your request | Accounts, directory listings, paid services, support, and transactions |
| Legitimate and lawful interests | Improving the Services, securing systems, preventing abuse, responding to enquiries, and understanding general service performance, balanced against your rights |
| Legal obligation | Tax, accounting, regulatory, recordkeeping, law-enforcement, and court requirements |
| Protection of rights and persons | Safety, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and legal claims where permitted by law |
If we ask for information that is required to provide a service or comply with law, we will explain that requirement when appropriate. If you do not provide required information, we may be unable to provide the relevant feature or service.
Public business listings
Information submitted for a public business profile—such as a business name, address, category, phone number, website, description, hours, and photos—is intended to be visible to the public. Public listing information may be indexed by search engines, copied by visitors, or displayed in search results outside SunuBiz.
Do not include private residential addresses, personal phone numbers, identity documents, or other information you do not want publicly available unless that information is necessary and you knowingly choose to publish it.
Business owners and authorised representatives may request listing corrections or removal. Some factual business information may remain available where we have a lawful reason to preserve it, including fraud prevention, dispute records, or legal obligations.
Sharing and disclosure
We may share personal information only as described below:
- Service providers. Hosting, cloud infrastructure, security, analytics, communications, customer support, email delivery, and payment providers that process information for us under appropriate obligations.
- SunuBiz companies. Related entities where necessary to operate the Services, manage a request, maintain security, or support a business relationship, subject to appropriate safeguards.
- Public users. Business listing information and content you choose to make public.
- Professional advisers. Lawyers, auditors, insurers, accountants, and consultants where reasonably necessary.
- Authorities and legal process. Courts, regulators, law enforcement, the Commission de Protection des Données Personnelles (CDP), or other competent authorities where required or permitted by law.
- Business transactions. A prospective or completed merger, financing, reorganisation, sale, or transfer of all or part of a business, with appropriate confidentiality and notice where required.
- At your direction. Other recipients when you request or expressly authorise the disclosure.
We do not sell personal information to third parties for their own marketing. If our practices change in a way that requires notice or an opt-out right, we will provide it before the change applies.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files placed on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags, and software development kits. Depending on the Service, we may use:
| Type | Purpose | Your choice |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, sessions, authentication, load balancing, and core functions | Required for the requested service; blocking them may prevent features from working |
| Preferences | Remember language, display, and other selections | Adjust browser or device storage settings |
| Analytics | Understand visits, performance, and interactions in aggregated reports | Use our consent controls where displayed, browser settings, or provider opt-out tools |
| Advertising | Measure campaigns or deliver relevant promotions, if such tools are activated | These tools are used only with an appropriate legal basis and consent where required |
You may block or delete cookies in your browser. Your browser settings may not remove all local-storage data, and blocking necessary technologies can affect service functionality. Where a cookie banner is available, you may use it to accept, reject, or change non-essential choices.
Google Analytics
Some SunuBiz Services use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the Services. Google Analytics may collect device, browser, approximate location, page, session, and interaction information through cookies or similar technologies. We use reports from this data to improve performance, content, and user experience—not to identify visitors by name.
Where consent is required, Google Analytics should load only after you accept analytics cookies. Google processes analytics data under its own terms and privacy documentation. You can learn more through Google’s Privacy Policy and install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google Analytics configuration, features, and retention settings may differ between SunuBiz Services. We review settings periodically and aim to use privacy-protective configurations appropriate to the service and applicable law.
International data transfers
SunuBiz operates across multiple countries, and our providers may process personal information outside the country where you live, including Senegal and the United States. Privacy laws in those locations may differ.
When applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use an appropriate mechanism, which may include contractual protections, transfer agreements, provider commitments, regulatory authorisation, or another legally recognised safeguard. We also limit transfers to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.
You may contact us to ask for more information about safeguards relevant to your personal information.
How long we retain information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Services, maintaining security, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and meeting legal, tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations.
| Category | Typical retention approach |
|---|---|
| Account data | While the account is active and generally up to 12 months after closure, unless a longer period is required |
| Business listing data | While the listing is active and generally up to 12 months after removal; public search caches are controlled by third parties |
| Support and email communications | Generally up to 24 months after the matter is closed |
| Security and server logs | Generally up to 90 days, with longer retention for investigated incidents |
| Analytics data | According to the configured analytics retention period, generally no longer than 14 months for user-level analytics data |
| Transaction and legal records | For the period required by tax, accounting, anti-fraud, or other applicable law |
When retention is no longer justified, we delete, de-identify, or securely isolate the information. Backup copies may remain until normal backup cycles complete.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, proportionate to the nature of the data and the risks involved. Measures may include encryption in transit, password hashing, access restrictions, authentication controls, logging, backups, vendor review, and security updates.
No online system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping passwords confidential, using unique credentials, and notifying us if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
If we identify a personal-data breach, we will assess it and notify affected individuals, the CDP, or other authorities where required by applicable law.
Children’s privacy
The Services are intended for adults and business users and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly request personal information from children for general SunuBiz accounts or listings.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorisation, contact us. We will review the request and delete or restrict the information as required by law.
Your privacy rights and choices
Under Senegal’s personal-data protection framework, individuals have rights concerning how their personal information is used. Depending on your location and the law that applies, your rights may include:
To exercise a right, email info@sunubiz.com with the subject “Privacy Request.” Tell us which right you wish to exercise and which SunuBiz service is involved.
We may need to verify your identity and authority before acting. We will use verification information only for the request. We aim to respond within 30 days, but the legally required period may differ depending on your location, the request, and whether an extension is permitted. We will explain any lawful refusal or delay.
You may unsubscribe from marketing email by using the unsubscribe link in the message or contacting us. You will still receive necessary service or account communications.
Account and data deletion requests
To request deletion of an account, listing, or other personal information:
- Email info@sunubiz.com with the subject “Data Deletion Request.”
- Include your full name, the email address connected to the service, the relevant business or account, and what you want deleted.
- Complete reasonable identity or ownership verification if requested.
We will confirm the outcome when the request is complete. We may retain limited information when required for legal obligations, fraud prevention, security, disputes, financial records, or the establishment or defence of legal claims. We will explain any applicable exception.
Third-party websites and services
The Services may link to businesses listed in our directory, social networks, app stores, payment services, map providers, or other third parties. Those services have their own privacy practices, and SunuBiz is not responsible for services it does not control.
Review a third party’s privacy notice before providing personal information or connecting an account. A link or directory listing does not mean SunuBiz endorses that third party’s privacy or security practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our Services, technology, legal requirements, or data practices. We will post the updated policy here and change the “Last updated” date.
If a change materially affects your rights or how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate, such as an email, account notice, or prominent website message. Where required, we will request new consent before the change takes effect.
